Permit to Import or Export Protected or Prohibited Wildlife
All protected and prohibited wildlife brought into or out of the Territory must be approved by both the State/Territory it is leaving and the State/Territory it is entering. A permit must be issued for the movement of the wildlife before it is consigned.
An import permit is issued and valid for a period of one (1) month from the date of shipment. The animal must be imported into the NT within this period or the permit will expire and another permit will need to be obtained.
An export permit is only valid for a period of two (2) days from the date of shipment. The animals must be exported from the state within this time or the permit will expire and another permit will need to be obtained.
An import or export permit issued by the NT does not automatically allow the movement of wildlife in or out of other States or Territories. You must ensure that a corresponding permit or licence from the relevant interstate authority have been issued.
You will need to allow a minimum of 5 working days for your application to be processed.
